& cookies
This notice explains what personal data we collect through this website, why we hold it, how long we keep it and the rights you have over it.
Who we are
Foster Civil Engineering & Paving Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. We are registered in England & Wales under company number 09043206, with our office at Telephone repeater station, Manchester Road, Clifton, M27 6TA.
You can contact us about anything in this notice by email at tom@fostercivilengineering.co.uk or by telephone on 0161 7940776.
What data we collect
If you use the enquiry form on our contact page we collect the details you enter: your name, company name, email address, telephone number, the site or location of the work and the details of the job you describe. If you email or ring us instead, we hold whatever information you choose to give us in that message or call.
Our website does not run analytics, advertising or profiling tools, so we do not build a profile of your browsing. Our hosting and security providers keep short-term technical logs, which may include your IP address, for security and to keep the site working.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
We use your details only to respond to your enquiry, to prepare a quotation, to carry out any work you go on to instruct, and to keep a record of our dealings with you. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: replying to an enquiry you have chosen to send us. Where we go on to work for you, we also rely on performance of a contract, and on legal obligation where accounting or health and safety law requires us to keep records.
We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not sell or share them with anyone for their own marketing purposes.
Who we share it with
Enquiries are sent to our office inbox and to the person who handles quotations for us. We also rely on service providers who process data on our behalf: our website host, our email delivery provider, our email and IT provider, and our accountants. They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum apply.
We will also disclose information where we are legally required to, for example to a regulator or to enforce or defend legal claims.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted. Where we carry out work, we keep project and contract records for six years after the end of the relationship, in line with our legal and insurance obligations. Health and safety and construction records may be kept for longer where law or a scheme requires it.
Cookies
This website does not use analytics, advertising, tracking or profiling cookies, so no cookie consent banner is needed. Only strictly necessary technology is used: cookies set by our hosting and security providers to keep the site secure, to route requests and to protect our forms from automated abuse. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, but you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. If we add analytics or advertising tools in future, we will ask for your consent first and update this notice.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask us to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to ask for it to be transferred to another organisation where that applies. Where we rely on legitimate interests you can object to that use at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at tom@fostercivilengineering.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, telephone 0303 123 1113, or at ico.org.uk.
